Safety
- Use of Croft facilities, including the sauna, is at the user’s own risk.
- Do not bring metal or glass objects into the sauna.
- Do not touch the stove or sauna rocks.
- Entering the cold plunge is entirely at users’ own risk.
- Children under 16 are not allowed to use the sauna. An adult must accompany children under 18.
- Only water should be drizzled sparingly onto the sauna rocks. Use the provided ladle to drizzle sauna water onto the rocks from back to front, keeping the arm away from the hot steam.
- Do not hang towels or clothing anywhere inside the sauna.
- The Croft has multiple potential hazards, including uneven or slippery ground, ponds, and bridges. Be aware of your surroundings and take care when moving around.
Medical and Health
- People with medical conditions or who are using any medications should consult a physician for advice on whether a sauna, cold plunge, etc., is suitable for them.
- Pregnant people should not use the sauna.
- People with any infection should not use the sauna.
- People with open wounds should not use the sauna.
- Inform someone if feeling unwell, and exit the sauna immediately.
Using the Sauna
- The sauna temperature is typically 70-90°C, and the humidity is 10-30%.
- Outdoor footwear should be removed before entering the sauna.
- Follow instructions for drizzling water onto the sauna rocks. Use the provided ladle and keep your arm away from the hot steam. Adding water will increase the perceived temperature and humidity, and it is good practice to check with other sauna users beforehand to ensure everyone remains comfortable.
- Typically, users will sit in the sauna for 5-15 minutes, followed by a 5-10 minute “cooling off” outside. Sauna users may use the sauna and “cool off” multiple times per session.
- A maximum of 6 people will use the sauna at any one time.
- After a sauna session, it is recommended to rest for at least 10 minutes to allow the body to cool down.
Property and Admission
- We reserve the right to refuse use of Croft facilities, including the sauna, to any person deemed unsuitable to use the sauna, for example, anyone who appears under the influence of drugs or alcohol, medically unfit or who is exhibiting antisocial behaviour.
- All property brought to the Croft is at the user’s own risk. We are not liable for any loss or damage to property.
- Users must arrive on time for a booked session.
